Job #4805 – Our client is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis in the west-end of Ottawa. You will play an important role within the accounting team as you work closely with the Assistant Controller and support a variety of day-to-day operational accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys working on-site, rolling up their sleeves, and interacting with various departments to ensure objectives are being met. This role will provide exposure to the full accounting cycle and requires a good understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures. The main responsibilities include:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records at all times
- Process sales and ensure contracts are paid on time
- Reconcile all accounts including bank statements and reports/schedules
- Assist with semi-monthly payroll via Ceridian
- Monthly government remittances
- Reconcile physical inventory accounts
- Prepare daily operating dashboards
- Maintain petty cash system
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting required
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar accounting role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel – system savvy
