Job #4249 – Our client, a crown corporation located in downtown Ottawa, is looking to hire a strong Manager of Payroll & Benefits for a 1 year contract. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position involves managing and mentoring a small team and overseeing the day-to-day payroll operations, benefits, and pension plan for a dynamic organization. Your extensive payroll knowledge and leadership experience will enable you to guide, train, mentor your team and to improve processes. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing payroll, pension, and benefits policies, procedures, and processes
  • Managing, motivating, and coaching team members to achieve organizational objectives
  • Providing consultations on employee-specific issues and organization-wide initiatives as a subject matter expert
  • Providing recommendations to senior management to provide a competitive compensation package
  • Overseeing HRIS ownership, maintenance, development, and evolution
  • Developing and delivering management presentations as required

Qualifications

Mandatory:

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • PCP designation / payroll certification completed
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, with solid payroll and HR experience
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Security clearance requires you to have lived in Canada for the last 10 years
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task
  • Strong communication skills

Definite Assets:

  • Bilingual (French / English)
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce

Compensation, Perks & Opportunities:

  • $96,000 – $120,000 salary range
  • Bonus potential
  • Excellent group benefits plan (yes, even though it’s a contract!)
  • 3 weeks’ vacation
