Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller oversees the organization’s financial reporting, planning, and controls environment, ensuring accurate, timely, and decision-ready information for senior leadership and the Board. The role provides oversight of budgeting, forecasting, and in-year performance reporting, and ensures strong financial governance through effective policies, systems, and accounting operations. A key focus of the role is strengthening financial discipline and performance by identifying risks, improving processes, and enhancing internal controls through continuous review and targeted recommendations. The ideal candidate is a technically strong finance leader who can operate effectively in a complex environment and partner seamlessly with senior stakeholders. Main responsibilities include:
- Lead financial reporting and assurance activities, ensuring integrity, compliance, and transparency across internal and external reporting
- Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and overall financial performance
- Lead the accounting operations function, including team leadership, capability development, and operational oversight
- Oversee external audit engagement and internal control frameworks, including compliance and certification processes
- Drive financial strategy, policy development, and continuous improvement of financial governance and processes
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Oversee financial risk identification, assessment, and mitigation, while supporting enhancements to financial systems, tools, and capabilities
Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- CPA designation required
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Good understanding of GAAP and IFRS
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems
- Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset
- Proficient with ERP systems
- Bilingual – English/French (CBC is required)
