Job #5136 – We are recruiting on behalf of one of Ottawa’s most prominent high-tech organizations for a technically strong Director of Financial Reporting & Internal Controls for a full-time, permanent position. This role will lead a small team, oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance while providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and workload management. Working closely with senior finance leadership, regional finance teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and external auditors, the successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely reporting while supporting continuous improvement across the organization. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-directed, and detail-oriented, with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a high degree of accountability. They are comfortable working independently, take ownership of their responsibilities, and consistently deliver high-quality results while collaborating effectively with stakeholders across the organization. Key responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and disclosures in accordance with IFRS
- Oversee external audits and global statutory reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion across multiple jurisdictions
- Serve as the technical accounting lead for complex transactions, accounting policies, and new IFRS standards
- Oversee internal financial controls, identify gaps, and drive remediation and process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on acquisitions, restructurings, and other strategic initiatives
- Lead and develop a small team, providing coaching, setting priorities, and ensuring accountability for deliverables
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across financial reporting, audit, and accounting processes

Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- CPA designation in good standing
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, ideally in a multinational or public accounting environment
- Strong IFRS expertise, including consolidated financial statements, technical accounting, audits, and statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions
- Proven project management, communication, and people leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with large ERP Systems
