Job #4927 – Our client, a privately held, owner-managed electrical services firm, is seeking a Controller to join their operations on a full-time basis. Reporting directly to the Owner, the Controller will be responsible for managing the full scope of the company’s financials, including the day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring a positive, hands-on approach and must be comfortable with problem-solving and managing multiple priorities. This is a terrific opportunity to take full ownership of a newly created role while working directly underneath the President to help shape the future of the business. Main responsibilities include:
- Manage month and year-end close, financial statements, general ledger and reconciliations (AP, AR, billing, payroll)
- Maintain internal controls, policies, and best practices
- Coordinate and support year-end audits
- Budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, revenue reconciliation, cost tracking and cash flow reporting
- Ensure compliance with ASPE and tax filings (HST, payroll remittance)
- Ad hoc duties as requested

Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Post-secondary education in accounting and/or finance required
- A minimum of 7 years of related experience in accounting
- Strong understanding of ASPE
- Able to work well independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in Excel
- Previous construction industry experience is considered an asset
