Job #4971 – Our client, a well-established and highly regarded organization operating in a regulated environment, is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join their team in a full-time, permanent capacity. The Intermediate Accountant supports day-to-day financial operations, contributes to month-end processes, and assists with financial reporting and analysis that informs key business decisions. They play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting a strong internal control environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with a practical, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving. They thrive in fast-paced environments, manage competing priorities effectively, and communicate clearly and confidently, including asking thoughtful questions to ensure accuracy and clarity. A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn are essential to success in this role. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the key responsibilities are:

  • Review and process vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, proper categorization, and compliance with company policies
  • Reconcile bank accounts and support inventory counts and prepaid expense tracking
  • Assist with month-end close, financial reporting, and year-end audits
  • Provide analysis of key financial data to support business decisions
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and capital project financial activities
  • Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes
  • Facilitate training and onboarding on financial systems, policies, and best practices

Qualifications

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • University degree in business, finance, accounting or business administration
  • Enrolled in the CPA program, or committed to beginning the program within one year of hire
  • 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office software tools with advanced proficiency in Excel

Assets:

  • Bilingualism (English and French)
