Job #5015 – We are recruiting for a growing Ottawa-based real estate development and construction management firm that specializes in high-quality residential and commercial projects! As the full-time, permanent Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations of multiple properties, ensuring accuracy in accounting records, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong business acumen, sound knowledge of real estate accounting principles, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. This role is best suited to a hands-on individual who enjoys working in a mid-size business and who values having a voice at the round table discussions. Reporting to the CFO, you will:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers for assigned properties, including reconciling bank accounts, tenant ledgers, and other financial records
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies
- Process the rent roll efficiently each month, recording transactions accurately in tenant ledgers, and work with Property Managers to capture monthly tenant changes while investigating and resolving account discrepancies
- Process invoices, payments, and expense allocations, and manage account reconciliations
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitor property expenses, and provide financial analysis to support operational decision-making
- Prepare and file property tax, sales tax, and other regulatory reports, and support external audits and financial reviews

Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA designation complete or in progress is considered an asset
- Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Excel
