Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director of Finance serves as a key strategic advisor to the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board of Directors, providing financial leadership that supports sound decision-making, effective governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and the organization's long-term financial sustainability. The role also contributes to strategic planning and organizational initiatives. The ideal candidate is an experienced finance leader with a strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to leadership. Main responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic financial leadership, advice, and reporting to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership team
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis to support organizational goals and long-term sustainability
- Oversee all accounting and financial operations, including reporting, payroll, cash flow, investments, and financial controls
- Prepare and present financial statements, forecasts, and insights to support informed decision-making and governance activities
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, accounting standards, audits, insurance requirements, and risk management practices
- Manage relationships with auditors, financial institutions, investment advisors, and external service providers
- Support payroll, benefits administration, and related reporting requirements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on strategic initiatives, committees, and continuous process improvement efforts

Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
- Completed CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including experience reporting directly to a Board of Directors and/or Finance Committee
- Proven experience managing the financial operations for a not-for-profit organization is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading annual audits, budgeting, forecasting, payroll and financial reporting functions
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset
- Proficiency with large ERP systems and MS Excel
