Job #5050 – We are recruiting an Accounting Clerk on behalf of a well-established national industry association for a full-time, permanent position based in Ottawa. Our client is a respected, member-driven organization that serves a diverse network of businesses across a vital Canadian sector. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Operations, the Accounting Clerk plays a key role in supporting the organization's day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is a dependable, detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in an independent work environment while maintaining strong communication and interpersonal skills. They take a hands-on approach to their work, are comfortable supporting general administrative functions when required, and possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and general ledger processes. Main responsibilities include:

  • Processing full-cycle accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing, cash receipts, convention registrations, and employee Visa statements
  • Preparing bank deposits, credit card reconciliations, and related monthly adjustments, including discounts
  • Completing month-end processes, including deferred membership and foreign exchange calculations
  • Maintaining general ledger entries and ensuring accurate, up-to-date financial records
  • Responding to customer and vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Preparing audit and financial reporting documentation as required
  • Ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness of all financial transactions
  • Providing general administrative support as required

Qualifications

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field
  • Minimum 3+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience required
  • Experience with accounting software; Sage 300 experience is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is an asset
  • Proficient in Excel

How You Will Be Rewarded:

  • $60,000 – $70,000 annual salary range
