Job #4746–Exciting opportunity to join a very prominent and well-respected not-for-profit organization as their Assistant Controller! Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the chosen candidate will be responsible for ensuring all financial transactions are accurate and in accordance with applicable regulations and policies. You will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of the organization and managing all the financial operations including budgets, reports and compliance. This role is best suited for a designated CPA with previous experience working in a non-profit organization. The main responsibilities include:
- Oversee all banking activities
- Manage the year-end audit and ensure all financial records are accurate
- Assist with the annual budget, cash flow statements and forecasts
- Monitor financial health and report any discrepancies, provide financial insight and recommendations
- Responsible for monthly financial and monthly variance reports and analysis
- Manage acquisition of assets and maintain records of depreciation
- File annual charitable tax returns in compliance with applicable regulations
- Oversee adjusting entries and month-end journal entries and ensure accuracy and compliance of financial transactions
- Oversee the distribution of grant funds to ensure proper allocation
- Other duties as required

Qualifications
Mandatory:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA designation preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end reporting and analysis
- Advanced Excel skills
Definite Assets:
- Previous experience with a non-profit organization
- Project accounting
What’s the Bottom Line:
- $75,000 – $85,000 annual salary range
