Job #5043 – Our client is a well-established not-for-profit home and community care organization in Ottawa that helps individuals live safely and independently at home and in their communities. They are seeking a full-time, permanent Director of Finance to join their team. This role leads a small finance team while remaining hands-on in core accounting and general ledger activities. Key responsibilities include overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, analytics, government funding reporting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and year-end audit support. The position also supports organizational growth through market analysis, competitor research, and service expansion planning. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, hands-on finance leader with a team-first mindset and a willingness to help where needed. Reporting to the CEO, the main responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee a small finance team responsible for payroll and accounting functions, while maintaining a hands-on approach
  • Manage month-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements, reporting, and performance analytics
  • Complete various government reporting requirements related to funding and compliance
  • Develop forecasting models and “what-if” scenario analyses to support strategic financial planning and decision-making
  • Lead year-end audit preparation and coordination
  • Support organizational growth strategy through market analysis, competitor research, and evaluation of service expansion opportunities

Qualifications

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • Degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA designation required
  • 7+ years of experience in the full cycle of accounting, including management with a strategic focus
  • Proficient in Excel

How You Will Be Rewarded:

  • $110,000 – $130,000 annual salary range
