Job #5103 – Our client, a thriving real estate investment and management firm, is seeking a Director of Finance to lead its financial strategy and accounting operations. Reporting to the President, the Director of Finance will be an integral part of the leadership team and will be responsible for managing financial planning, reporting, analysis, and overall fiscal management of the organization. To be successful in this role, you must have strong people skills and be able to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across the organization. A hands-on, entrepreneurial finance leader with an appetite for implementing financial strategy while driving forward automation opportunities will thrive in this role. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop financial strategy, tax planning, and long-term fiscal direction, advising the executive team on capital allocation, risk, and key financial decisions
- Partner cross-functionally on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling, while monitoring capital projects against budget and schedule
- Oversee financial reporting, including year-end close, budgeting, dashboard reporting, and cash flow forecasting
- Conduct variance and margin analysis, report findings to ownership, and support investor reporting, distributions, and due diligence on acquisitions
- Manage client relationships through regular account reviews, and maintain investor relations and partnership compliance
- Support business development through fundraising initiatives and networking, and oversee financial onboarding for new properties and contracts
- Strengthen financial controls and process efficiency through automation and real-time reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards
- Identify cost-saving and revenue opportunities, and oversee payroll administration, including compensation, deductions, and ROE processing
- Mentor and develop the finance team through ongoing guidance and formal performance reviews
- Serve as Finance lead on the Executive Team, providing strategic input and financial updates across the organization

Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Completed CPA designation is considered an asset
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
- Strong background in financial reporting and analysis, audits, and compliance
- Knowledge of payroll and taxes is an asset
- Proficiency with Yardi is considered a strong asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
