Finance Specialist

Job #4970 – Our client, a national leader and well-respected consulting firm, is seeking a hands-on Finance Specialist to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day transactions related to the firm’s accounting operations. This includes accounts payable, credit card processing, employee expenses, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role is best suited to an individual with a strong accounting foundation who is self-motivated, organized and can work well independently. Main responsibilities include:

  • Manage the full AP cycle, including invoice verification, coding, and payment runs
  • Support accounts receivable, including client invoices, and collections
  • Review and process employee expense claims and manage cash transfers, including EFTs and wire payments.
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring, daily liquidity, and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close, and reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and record depreciation; assist with HST filings
  • Process payroll and support year-end reporting and compliance filings
  • Assist with year-end working papers for audit, and other periodic reporting requirements
  • Provide administrative and team support to meet departmental deadlines and operational needs

Qualifications

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting is required
  • Minimum 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Previous experience with payroll processing is considered an asset
