Job #4922 – We’re recruiting on behalf of our client for a 3-year temporary, full-time Manager, External Financial Reporting to join their dynamic team. The Manager, External Financial Reporting, will oversee the preparation of financial statements and related reporting for key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Ministers of Health, the Executive Management Team, and the public. They also manage the external audit relationship and collaborate closely with the Manager of Pension & Treasury and the Manager of Financial Services (AP/AR). The ideal candidate is a collaborative, no-ego leader who takes initiative, drives change, and inspires teams through strong communication and presentation skills. Reporting to the Associate Director, Financial Reporting, your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the external financial reporting function, including reporting to committees, boards, members and the public
  • Conduct accounting research and develop clear, comprehensive position papers
  • Manage a team of senior financial analysts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all financial results
  • Oversee preparations of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, including consolidated results and captive insurance company financials
  • Manage the external audit relationship and coordinate on key accounting issues
  • Oversee membership billing, communications and impact assessments, working closely with provincial and territorial governments
  • Collaborate with the treasury team to support financial operations and decision-making

Qualifications:

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline
  • CPA Designation required
  • 6+ years progressive experience in accounting, audit and/or financial reporting
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proven success leading a team to specific objectives
  • Audit, pension and benefits experience are an asset

What’s the Bottom Line:

  • $108,500 – $125,026 annual salary range
  • Bonus potential up to 10%
  • Benefits: 6.5% paid out 1st year, then can enroll
  • 8% vacation paid out each pay cycle
  • Hybrid work environment – 2 days a week in the office
