Job #4963 – We are recruiting a Senior Accountant on behalf of our client, a growing residential construction firm that specializes in high-quality custom homes. As the team and operations expand, they are seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial operations and support long-term strategic growth. In this role, you will oversee payables and receivables, maintain accurate records, and work closely with project and site managers to ensure the financial health of each build. You will also contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning to help guide the company’s growth. We are looking for a dependable and communicative candidate who enjoys taking full ownership of their role in an owner-managed environment. Reporting to the CEO, you will be required to:
- Enter and code vendor invoices, subcontractor bills and receipts; reconcile bank and credit card accounts; maintain the general ledger and keep organized financial records
- Process supplier and subcontract invoices, match them to purchase orders, track payment due dates, run payment batches, and respond to vendor inquiries
- Generate and issue client invoices, track payments, follow up on overdue accounts, and coordinate billing with project managers
- Enter employee hours, process payroll, track vacation and statutory leaves, and support payroll tax reporting
- Allocate labor and expenses to projects, maintain job cost reports, flag discrepancies, and assist project managers with cost tracking and holdbacks.
- Prepare and file HST/GST returns, remit WSIB/WCB payments, prepare year-end reports, and support audits while maintaining compliance documentation.
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, and financial targets, analyze variances, provide financial modelling, and support strategic planning.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, maintain confidential records, and provide ad hoc financial analysis for management.

Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor's Degree or College diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Minimum 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of full-cycle accounting
- Proficient in Excel
- Experience in a construction or job costing environment is an asset
How You Will Be Rewarded:
- $65,000 – $80,000 annual salary range
