Job #4995 – Step into a fresh chapter this spring by joining as a Senior Accounting Specialist with this well-established, member-based, not-for-profit organization, known nationally for its trust, reliability, and long-standing reputation. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accounting Specialist plays a key role in managing daily accounting operations and supports both accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across the finance function. The ideal candidate is deadline-driven, highly organized, and consistently delivers accurate work in a fast-paced environment. A confident, independent worker and strong multitasker, they manage competing priorities while supporting the broader team. Main responsibilities include:

  • Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliation and tax filings (HST/QST)
  • Act as a backup for the Accounting Specialist to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Prepare and analyze membership and revenue reports
  • Record daily banking activity and maintain accurate vendor information
  • Support accounts payable and receivable, including payments, invoicing and reporting
  • Maintain purchase order tracking and support procurement processes
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager on ongoing tasks and special projects

Qualifications:

The main qualifications for this role include:

  • Formal Accounting education – diploma or degree
  • 3+ years progressive full-cycle accounting experience
  • Payroll experience is a strong asset
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Business Central and Dayforce is an asset
