We are currently recruiting a Senior Payroll Specialist for an 18-month contract opportunity. In this role, the Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the end-to-end administration of Canadian payroll, ensuring all payroll processes are executed accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with federal and provincial legislation. Acting as a key subject matter expert for payroll, this individual will support reporting and audit requirements while working closely with Human Resources, Finance, Benefits, and external payroll providers to ensure seamless, timely, and reliable payroll delivery. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. A proactive and inquisitive mindset is essential, with the confidence to ask questions and seek clarification to ensure accuracy and compliance. Given the sensitivity of payroll data and the level of stakeholder interaction, a strong sense of professionalism and discretion is critical. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the main responsibilities include:
- Oversee end-to-end Canadian payroll processing on a semi-monthly basis
- Manage complex payroll activities, including bonuses, commissions, benefits, share programs, retroactive adjustments, terminations, and employee leave administration
- Prepare and record payroll-related journal entries, expenses and accruals in the general ledger
- Ensure compliance with CRA requirements and provincial legislation, including year-end reporting (T4, EHT) and ROE issuance, while maintaining strong internal controls and audit readiness
- Partner with HR, Finance, Benefits, and external payroll providers to ensure accurate data, resolve issues, and support seamless payroll operations
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries, providing clear and accurate guidance on pay, deductions, and statutory requirements

Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
- At least 7+ years of end-to-end Canadian payroll experience
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now
How You Will Be Rewarded:
- $80,000 – $85,000 annual salary range
- 4% vacation paid out, Christmas closure
